Top Chef, Season 4: High Steaks AND Givaway Winner

...
Well, Mini-SGCC is officially a high school girl! Today was her graduation from middle school. Today is also my adorable twin nephews' sixth birthday. Such excitement all in one day! We were out of the house at 7:15 this morning, did the graduation thing, did the fancy lunch with all of Mini-SGCC's girlfriends thing, and then did the stop in at the office to check on the new secretary thing. Now, I'm home to change clothes so we can go out and do the birthday celebration thing! Whew! My life has been a real E-ticket ride lately!

I think that last night's Top Chef episode was my favorite so far this season. I really don't want to rush and throw together a half-a$$ed recap for it. Instead, I am going to give you some links to some other great sites that are doing fun Top Chef recaps too. Then, you can come back here and leave your comments for next week's Giveaway for a Top Chef Cookbook.
..

Here they are:

David Dust (Love this guy!)

Endless Simmer (Where they do a live blog during the show. You can replay it too.)

Our Giveaway winner for this week is Rachel at The Essential Rhubarb Pie, better known as the Short (dis) Order Cook. Congratulations, Rachel! If you'll email me with your mailing address at stickygooeycreamychewy AT gmail DOT com, I'll get your Top Chef sticky note pad out to you as soon as possible.

Remember, all you have to do in order to be eligible to win a Giveaway is leave a comment on this post before next Wednesday at 10:00 p.m.

Ciao for now!

We were so glad Dale was eliminated last week. His dish wasn't good, and his cocky attitude made it difficult to root for him.

LISA MUST GO!! I can't stand her stance and face during eliminations - and she doesn't take responsibility for ANYTHING that goes wrong while cooking (it's always someone else's fault...)

BLECH! She does not deserve to be in the final 4!!!

Last night was a great episode. I agree Lisa should go. I don't think she really deserves to be in the final four. I think Richard or Stephanie will likely win.

As much as I wasn't a fan of Spike, I really wish Lisa had gone home. Every time she is in front of the judges her attitude is just horrible. She doesn't take criticism well at all. Go away! Sheesh!

I'm not surprised by the other finalists. Richard has been a favorite of mine since the start of the season and Antonia has grown on me... especially after the challenge with the kids. Stephanie is very talented. She may just win it all.

I was so in the mood for a big, juicy steak after this episode!

go stephanie....go away spike....wishes granted.

hate lisa but must admit peanut butter mashed potatoes was brave and she evidently pulled it off. i may even try that.

i want a tomahawk steak basted in butter...antonia won me over with her technique....i can just feel that crusty meaty goodness in my mouth.

harold is still such a hottie.

cant wait for puerto rico!!!

and project runway and the next food metwork star starts soon.....my summer is looking better already.

buuu! Here in Chile, there's no Top Chef :( ...

So glad to see Stephanie emerging as a contender. She's gonna take it!
We don't get Top Chef up here in the western "great white north" that is why I need this cookbook...wink...wink...

Sadly all the Top Chef episodes have been eliminated from youtube so I am back to reading recaps :( At least I know what the chefs look like this time and can picture them as I read, unlike season 3!

i loved ilan's tip to the finalists--no head-shaving! he's a funny guy (in more ways than one), but i'll always say that sam should've won that season.

Hola Susan! First time in your blog, although I've seen your little icon in other blog's comments, never came to visit. But today and through Jenn's FFF... here I am and I'll take a look around :D

We don't have Top Chef here either but it sounds fun!

So sorry, Kathy! I was in quite a hurry when I posted this. I am happy to add you to the list. :)

And I love you RIGHT BACK!!

Thanks for the link darling.

XOXOXOXO
I wish I didn't dislike Lisa so much, but I do. She should be gone. She is constantly screwing things up and not taking responsibility. She's nasty to everyone. Granted I don't watch regularly enough to see if she ever makes anything good, but I never see her do well when I do get to watch.

Well, I did a half-assed review but anyway...

David Dust is hilarious. Looking forward to checking out the others.

I was sad to see Spike cut and not Lisa. I think he deserved to be sent home for his bad decisions but I really get the I cook for myself and not the customer feeling from Lisa.

Glad Spike's gone, but it means Lisa is in the final four...ugh. It's a lose-lose situation. Can't wait to see what the other three do!!

OMG we love this show. My husband watches it religiously!~

for all the lisa haters...and i am one of them...think how satisfying it will be to see her get to puerto rico and sent home immediately after the first challenge....she wont even get to put her feet in the water.

The one thing that drives me crazy is that Spike screwed up this episode but over the long haul he is def the better chef than little Ms. Cocky Stance. I called Richard and Stephanie from the first episode. Put my $ on Stephanie but really worried about her confidence. It does seem like the cocky chefs manage to pull it off in the end. I hope she continues to pull thru!

Congratulations to Miss SGCC... I'm not so old I've forgotten what an important milestone that is. :)

I'm with those who were pulling for Lisa to go home on this one... how can you send someone to the finale that's been on the losing side of judges table 5 episodes out of 12? It's amazing how week after week, one of cheftestants throws themselves under a bus to save her.

Lisa definitely needs to go! Neither her nor Spike deserved to be in the finals, so I was hoping the judges would just get rid of them both. Peanut butter mashed potatoes?!!! The other three are exactly who should be there.

Crossing my fingers for the cookbook :)

Congrats to your daughter! High school is much better, anyway. Tell her I said so. I hated junior high. Ugh.

Lisa is just plain vile.

I'm rooting for Richard and Stephanie. Either way, I'll be happy!

I watched the first couple seasons of Top Chef avidly, even watched all the reruns on Wednesday nights before they got to the new episode. But lately it seems like there is nothing new. They seem to have a list of personality types that they need to fill for each season when selecting the participating chefs. It makes it all seem rather old. And I may have also gotten a bit annoyed by the fact that the judges opinions never seemed to coincide with mine ;)

Yes, last week's was one of my favorites too; amazingly, the chefs got to cook with a minimum of gimmicks.

And thanks for the mention and the link!

And just in time too... since I'm back from my break, and this newest Puerto-Rico ep is/was a doozy!

(*Not going to spoil it for you just in case you haven't had a chance to view it yet.) Can't wait to hear what everyone says about Lisa's last remark in this show - she really needs a new personality, stat!
